Recent Development of Chinese IP Law by Fangda Partners on Dec. 13th for FBCB members only

FBCB together with other Nordic chambers is very delighted to invite you to an evening with Fangda Partners Beijing to hear and discuss the latest in Intellectual Property Rights practices in China.

Fangda Partners have recently represented Metso Corporation (a large stock enlisted Nordic Corporation) in a successful IPR infringement case. This case is notable for the court’s award of full amount of claimed damages and legal expenses despite the lack of direct evidence on defendants’ gains from infringement, a departure from the past practice.

This ruling can be seen as the latest sign of IPR protection being very high on the Chinese Government agenda.

During the evening experts from Fangda Partners will share the key steps and takeaways from this case as well as the implications it might have in the future. In addition, other Nordic companies will share their experiences and views on IPR issues.

Dear friends,

In the run-up to the Beijing Olympics 2022, Finland and China have decided to deepen cooperation in Winter Sports. Currently, this cooperation plays an important role in our bilateral relations. The upcoming China Finland Year on Winter Sports 2019 was also agreed by the Presidents during President Xi’s state visit to Finland.

Finland and China have agreed to prepare this in cooperation with various stakeholders in different cities and areas. Both sides will collaborate with government representatives, cities and companies as well as sport organizations and sport institutes. Thematic year will not only be about sports but also culture, education, research and training to name a few. Besides governmental cooperation, the aim is to promote business opportunities and people-to-people exchanges.

After The US Mid-Elections: Where is China Heading Next on Nov. 14th

Tensions between the US and China have spilled over from the trade war into a number of other strategic areas, and are now joint by disputes over territorial claims in the South China Sea and military cooperation. Last month during a meeting on nonproliferation in the United Nation, President Trump directly accused China of interfering in the U.S. midterm elections in retaliation for the ongoing trade war, marking a new front in the deepening hostilities that have threatened to upend bilateral relations.

The world is watching as the upcoming midterm elections in the US is closing in. Some experts say that no real improvement in the trade tensions between the U.S. and China is expected until after midterm elections. But what can we really expect? We have invited Andrew Polk to discuss outcomes from the midterm election and how these may affect the Global trade tensions, the Chinese economy and the diplomatic relationship between China and the US.

This event is a joint event organised together with the SwedCham Beijing, the Danish Chamber of Commerce in Beijing and Finnish Business Council Beijing.
